Looking Back, There You’ll Find

I was looking back on memories that pop up on social media, particularly on my Timehop. This time of year, previously, I used to post a lot about how this year would be better than the last, or something equivalent.

Now, I can look back and know that it’s all about perspective.

Every year there have been challenges. Every year there have been ups and downs, whether that’s nationally, globally, personally or relationally. If you focus on the bad in your reflection time, that’s all you’ll see. When you look back, I hope you look at the bad and the good – the good can be the good times you had, but also, it can be what you learned and how you grew when times were tough for you.

No year is “our” year when we live for God. It’s always His year. He is, always has been and always will be in control. He’s completely sovereign, even when we think he left us last year or years prior. We’re the ones who lose perspective and we lose sight of who He is or the connection we once had with Him.

This year, draw near to God and let Him work His desired transformation in your life to bring you to His Christ-like children.

We’re all on this journey together – all experiencing it differently.

I pray for a year full of hope and peace in whatever God has for us. We can find rest in Him.

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
