11th Truth of Christmas – 2019

It’s Easy To Find Sadness

If we thought about it, there’s so much to find joy in this time of year. Just as simply, it’s easy to find something to be sad about at Christmas. There’s a list of reasons, things, thoughts that make us sad.

Even if we have sadness in us or around us, we can look to our source of joy for comfort. The One who comforts, overcomes and provides time and time again. He’s reaching out to you when you need Him. He’ll be there when you’re struggling to keep a smile on your face. He’ll be there when you have tears streaming down your face at a memory. He’ll be there to wrap His arms around you when you want to curl up and lock yourself away from the world.

We’re able to have joy and thankfulness through our sad times, our lonely times. We can have joy when we look to the source. We can have joy when we stop and turn our thoughts to brighter things and set our sights on things above, things ahead.

When it’s easy to find sadness and loneliness, remember that it’s also easy to find joy.

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.

James 1:2

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness…

Galatians 5:22

I wrote this long before anything happened so close to home… but more with the thoughts of others close to me in mind. Reading this over again, I find how much I need this myself. Please know that if youโ€™re in the boat of sadness this Christmas, youโ€™re not alone.
