Break the Chains of Sin

***this was a draft from 2018 I’m just now posting***

Chain Breaker by Zach Williams:

“If youโ€™ve been walking the same old road for miles and miles

If youโ€™ve been hearing the same old voice tell the same old lies

If youโ€™re trying to feel the same old holes inside

Thereโ€™s a better life

Thereโ€™s a better life

If youโ€™ve got pain

Heโ€™s a pain taker

If you feel lost

Heโ€™s a way maker

If you need freedom or saving

Heโ€™s a prison-shaking Savior

If youโ€™ve got chains

Heโ€™s a chain breaker”

Voices will tempt you, tell you that the way you are living is okay. That to do these actions doesn’t upset God. That he forgave you and nothing matters.

Is that how that works? Is that what God did by bringing his Son down to Earth? Is that why God let Jesus die on a cross, spat on and beaten and then have him rise again 3 days later?

Jesus lived the perfect life. He had followers, as well as haters. Oh, and they hated him. And Jesus was tempted, but he conquered it all! He conquered, he died for us, and he rose again! He lives in each of us. Calling on Him and asking for his help with our temptations, asking him to take hold of our steering wheel and guiding us to better ground, that’s what we are called to do.

Jesus didn’t endure for nothing.

No one is perfect as He, but we can’t set the Word of God aside. We can’t read His Word and not let it stay in our hearts for the world to see. We can’t just read a verse that’s nice and not live it. We can’t admit, believe, confess and continue to live the same lives as before! Living in the same sin is foolish. Disobeying the same written commands breathed by God is foolish.

We are weak without God’s strength. We are weak and cannot break the chains of sin.

The song Chain Breaker speaks to me. Not only when I think of sin, but just pain in general.

Sin is painful in itself. Sin can make you feel guilty, dirty, and may cause emotional pain due to what it does to others around you.

This song is a reminder that no matter what path we are on and no matter what we are feeling inside, He can break the chains that have us bound to the same road and he can take that pain away.

Watch the video, it brought tears to my eyes.
