“We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents.” – Bob Ross
Sometimes I find myself shook by mistakes and circumstances. Why did this happen? Why am I here? Why why why…
Bob Ross was talking about mistakes with the paint and brush when creating something. Paint can be painted over, making the mistake undiscovered later because it’s covered up or made into something new.
When we make mistakes, God is still holding the paint brush. Not us. He uses our mistakes for our benefit, for our growth.
I get easily worked up over my mistakes and on occasion over other’s mistakes.
How do you handle mistakes?
I think about life lately and how as we get older reflexes and cognitive functions may not be sharp as they were at a younger age. I’m not too far up there yet, but when I have a lot going on and I’m pulled in a handful of different directions, I forget things or things don’t click like they should.
Sometimes I think about how other people respond to my accidents. Most of the time I’m given so much grace and care, for which I’m grateful for. Other times, I’m not and I think they just don’t understand or know what it’s like for me right now. Which makes me more aware of other people and what they may be going through but I’m unaware of.
Toward the scorners he is scornful, but to the humble he gives favor.
Proverbs 3:34 ESV
Mistakes can be an opportunity to witness to someone, show grace and gratefulness. How well do we give and receive it?
I hope the rest of your week is filled with His favor over you!

This whole post is pure gold! 🌟 I beat myself up over small things too. And it just causes more stress. I love your point about offering others grace. No one is perfect and remembering that is helpful when others mess up. And this – “When we make mistakes, God is still holding the paint brush. Not us.” So true! Thank you for this, Summer!

Thank you for the kind words, Bridget! I feel that – it causes stress we were never meant to have when we stumble over our imperfections. No one is perfect, but we can look to the One who is. 🙌🏻
