This post started with me realizing one of my most used GIFs was this:
Most used when someone says something or something will happen and I’m like, “We’ll see.”
This is also how I start blog posts when I don’t know how it’ll go. I think, “We’ll see.”
I’m more positive than I used to be, but I’m still skeptical. But is it skeptical or cautious? How do we know the difference? (Will not be answered by me here)
A lot of times, I’m like if it happens, it happens and that’s great, but I also want to be prepared for the what ifs – what if it doesn’t happen?
A few weeks ago, during my pastor’s sermon, he said something about being a planner and how planners sometimes can’t pivot. They can’t get interrupted because it’s not in the plans. Interruptions happen. Plans change. Life happens. Being a planner is great. Non-planners probably wish they could plan. Planners like me wish I could float around without a plan (not really, tbh). There are pros and cons with both. Like non-planners can pivot. Planners have a harder time, but when we leave our planning with God, we’re more likely to pivot because He’s leading us.
As a planner, I’m often disappointed when things don’t happen as planned. Little things I’ve learned to let go of. It’s the big things I still wrestle with. I remember that God is for me, not against me in anyway. If my plans don’t work out, it’s because they weren’t meant for me, they weren’t part of His will for me, not part of His divine plans.
So at the end of the day, we’ll see what God has for us.

Oh gosh, yes. And I don’t like when things don’t go as planned “at all.” It’s so frustrating and the struggle is real. 😭 I think I take it personally, like what “I” want never works out. It can be a bit selfish, I admit. This was a really good reminder to hold everything loosely and allow God to lead. Thank you, my friend. I really need to be better about this.

It can get personal! Especially when what we want isn’t BAD, and we wonder why it’s not working out… Ultimately, focusing on God and His will (that we can’t know ahead of time) will always lead to the best for His glory. Hang in there! We’re in this together! ❤️ Thank you for sharing!

One tool used in a long career, Summer, was to use the acronym W.H.O. with team members responsible for the success of large-scale corporate mergers. We used W.H.O. to figure out three things. 1. What could go wrong? 2. How could we prevent it? 3. Opportunities for improvement? It was always tempting to jump to number 3, but that was our unique advantage that was worthless unless we first claimed victory with numbers 1 and 2. I consider wrestling with W.H.O. as a gift from God!
