Presence vs Answers

I seen a post recently that said โ€œseek His presence, not His answer.โ€

How often do we seek answers without seeking His presence?

In the midst of trials, our first inclination may be to ask why is this even happening or how do I get out of this. How much more peace would we have in life if our first response was taking a deep breath and seeking the Father first?

A theme recently has been turning to God first. For everything. He wants your small things just as much as He wants your big things. Heโ€™s an equal circumstance taker. He can handle it!

We can look through Psalms and see how the psalmists wrote of our mighty fortress and our shepherd. Heโ€™s our protection! Why do we not seek our Protector first?

Reminded of the Psalms, Iโ€™m brought to Psalm 23 (which my friend Bridget is journeying through on her blog!) where we are brought to the field with our good shepherd. This reminds us so richly how simple it is in what He we need and what He provides.

What do we have to do?

As sheep, we donโ€™t need to ask questions of our shepherd. We trust Him. We need to seek His presence.

Going through the valley of the shadow of death? Have you sought your shepherd?

Are the waters not still? Are you anxious? Have you sought your shepherd?

Are you discomforted by the circumstances? Have you sought your shepherd?

Over and again you can go through the psalm and ask this. All we need is to ask for His presence with us and in us. Show us the way. Bring us back. Protect us.

Encouragement:

  • His presence is POWER.
  • In your current situation, seek His presence over seeking an answer and see how this changes you.
  • While the path is simple, itโ€™s not always easy. Work on it and give yourself grace as you learn to lean on Him.

I hope you have a great Wednesday and rest of your week!!
