God Is In This Story

The next piece of wisdom from Charles F. Stanley is that God is in the details.

Stanley says, “Even if we believe that in our minds, sometimes embracing it when things go wrong is not so easy. We wonder how God could let difficult things happen if He really cares for us.”

Remember that Jesus said in Matthew 10:30 that every single hair on our head is numbered by God; He holds the running count!

Going on, Stanley says, “If He would pay attention to how many strands of hair you have, do you think He would be less vigilant about the path of your life?”

Since I’ve read a bit by A.W. Tozer and C.S. Lewis by now, they’ve really emphasized the truth that God is a personal God. He’s high and exalted, but He is here with us. He cares about us individually.

At some point in our life, whether right now, in the past or in the future, we all just want to be seen or heard by someone. Sometimes maybe we long for a certain someone to see or hear us, to notice our existence. But God…. He is all that and more. He knows us intimately – our thoughts, our fears, our everything.

Something I find important for my walk is simply that He is in the details of my life’s story. Each individual person responds differently to trials and that may effect what trials He gives us. I read something similar to this thought in Elisabeth Elliot’s book, A Path Through Suffering. God is in control of those details because He knows His creation – His children – so well. Isn’t that comforting?

O Lord, I will honor and praise your name, for you are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them.

Isaiah 25:1
