Today I realized that, though my full time job wasn’t that demanding this month (it’s the first month of a new fiscal year meaning it’s pretty chill!), I failed to blog between Oct. 4th and now. Total slacker moment.
So what have I been up to this month?
Well, in a day or so when I compile my reading notes of the books I completed this past month, you’ll find out I read quite a lot. That’s one thing.
Another thing, was my allergies that sprung upon me out of nowhere a few days before I was supposed to embark on a trip to Eureka Springs with some other ladies from my church. We were going to go to the Holy Land Tour there where they have activities and the play in an outdoor amphitheater. A few of them still went while I rested at home.

Not only was this a week that I was going to go out of town, a day I was really looking forward to, but my manager was also off on vacation so I was handling things in my department. It wasn’t too bad work wise, but I did really just want to sleep and not even read.
The runny nose and the sore throat converged in my body for a horrible time, but all was well after some medicine. Tylenol, elderberry Emergen-C mix for my immune support, some nasal spray, sore throat spray, cough drops with honey and Claritin all worked together to help me get well within a few days time. I wasn’t able to make it for the trip – I still wasn’t feeling 100%, but I did start feeling back to normal a day or two later.
I get allergies like every year around the same week. Why that is I have no idea but maybe I should put it in my calendar to not plan anything Lol
This month I also went to the Tulsa Raceway Park for the very first time! On most Fridays, if not all (weather permitting), the park has a thing called Test N Tune. During the few hours they’re open for the event, you can “tune” and race down the drag strip to check your time! It was a great experience.
I was so nervous the week leading up to it. It was planned and I had a small crowd there to support me. Not many people had groups there like I did. It was so cool.
I was going to put the video my mom took of me beating a challenger (off the green light and to the quarter mile sign…) but the file is apparently too large. 🥺
I’ll be back out there sometime! It was a lot of fun and though I was nervous (and definitely showed it!), it was an unforgettable experience – one I wish Dad could have been a part of.

I woke up at 5:30am, went to do my business and stepped on a water bug THAT DIDN’T DIE… My eyes were partially closed and not focused on where I was going since I literally just woke up and I need a few minutes.

On the same day as the above incident with the water bug….
An unexpected blessing and an answer to a really unspoken prayer, I guess, happened just this past week.
It was just before a department meeting when my manager called me out of the blue and said it was good news! Glad I didn’t do anything 🤣 I’m like great, I’ve messed up LOL
Anyway, she let me know that salaries had been reviewed for some people in the company – mine was one of them and y’all… I got this totally unexpected and substantial raise out of the blue. I cried on the call – what… I wasn’t expecting this and what a blessing it is to feel provided for when you feel like you’re saving, but there’s so many things to get done or help other people with.
Money is something I’ve learned to not worry about and when I do, it’s not for long. I remember all the times I really worried about money and how I felt like so much was (and actually is) out of my control. God was with me there in all of it, comforting and providing along the way. Those times have helped me to just rest in knowing that if I’m needing more, God will get me there.
Plus, I never thought about a raise. I’m not the type to really ask either. So the whole thing is just God all over it.
I’m so thankful for all He’s provided in my life, whether financially or just the great people who’ve been put along this journey I’m on. I don’t think I deserve it at all, yet here I am being gifted responsibility and all the gifts He provides.
On top of that, I just felt really appreciated by my manager (and whoever reviewed those salaries!) and also, a few days later by our VP of accounting services who called me as well. It’s like the little things that maybe don’t seem like a big deal to higher ups or maybe who make 10 times more (I don’t know how much anyone else makes, but I assume it’s a lot up there! LOL), but just the grace, patience and the encouragement that I’ve been given from the moment I was hired and promoted to now, has been amazing. I feel like I’m right where I belong at my company and in this moment in time. The advice and recommendations to continue my education so that I can keep on succeeding in my field are always appreciated and I definitely need more motivation and encouragement in that area before I plunge back into school… One day I will be able to go back so I can get my CPA under my belt!

Now, why did I title this post a slacker’s testimony? Maybe you figured that one out from the beginning and to the end of the post!
Though I slacked on being on WordPress, I saw God working in my life and being able to experience life in the moment.
I really love the work I do and I’m looking forward to all that God has in store for me in the months and years to come – wherever that may be.
Thank you for reading! ❤️
So sorry about the allergies and water bug! But so many other good things happened this month! That is awesome! Congrats on the raise and the test and tune. God is good! Best wishes if you do decide to go back to school. It makes me tired just thinking about that. LOL. But if it’s the right path, God will get you through it. Can’t wait to see your reading list from this month!
Thank you! It makes me stressed AND tired just thinking about school 🤣 I’ll have to sacrifice a few things from my life right now to go back… so I’ll have to have some prayer, deep thinking and prepare myself for that adventure for sure. Though I know it’ll be worth it once it’s done.
