This event is a yearly event in downtown Sapulpa, OK – a car show, vendors and food, live music and just a good time with friendly people of all ages and walks of life.
This year, the Route 66 BlowOut was on September 11th.

The firemen had their ladder up holding the flag. At 11am there was a time to remember those lost that horrible day and also recognize those still living who have bravely and/or are currently serving our country in the military or as first responders. I hope that we haven’t forgotten, as a country, how united we were, how we came together after those attacks on American ground. How great it is to be an American 🇺🇸 even in the worst of times. We are stronger together.
The car show is what I’m usually the most interested in at the BlowOut even… this year was no different. Except I was in the show instead of just checking out the cars.
The night before the car show which was Friday, there’s a cruise for those who want to participate in it along Main Street. My participation was probably going to happen regardless, but I felt like it was dependent on my group’s participation.
Here’s some photos from that day though.

Saturday came and so did that 4:30 alarm. I woke up and got ready. I woke up before my desired alarm so I thought I’d have extra time to spare. No. So glad I woke up early.
I got to the meeting spot and it was still dark outside. “I’d rather be sleeping” I thought, but I was really looking forward to this car show.
Here are some pictures of the show!

At awards time, I asked a group member, so… when they call your name, you actually have to walk up there? THE ANSWER WAS YES. I literally said I’d rather not win if i have to walk up there in front of all those people!!
Awards time came. They got to my class (2010-current stock car) and they said some names. They paused and I thought it was done and that I didn’t win a plaque. PHEW. Then I was like man, I at least wanted something to show for me being here. THEN THEY CALLED MY NAME. I didn’t even care that I had to go in front of people. I got a plaque!! My first thought was “I wish Dad were here to see this!”
It was an awesome moment – I couldn’t stop smiling.
