By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God. By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of Heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.
Hebrews 11:8-12
Our works are (or should be) because of faith. Our faith isn’t dependent or defined by how many works we do.
When we put our faith in Jesus, we have been given the power to carry out the works He wants us to do rather than doing works in an effort to please God and gain something that way.

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
We’re able to look in the Word and see what He calls us to, how we should act and perform works. It corrects us and convicts us. He equips all His workers.
I like the saying that I’ve heard a lot, that He doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. Maybe you need to hear that today like I do most days – when I feel like I just can’t do what God wants me to because I don’t have what it takes or I’m not ready. Remember that He guides you and will lead you. He has perfect timing and your tools and resources will surface when you need them.
But on the judgement day, fire will reveal what kind of work each builder has done. The fire will show if a person’s work has any value.
1 Corinthians 3:13
Don’t believe me unless I carry out my Father’s work.
John 10:37
Just as Jesus said, who would believe us if we did not carry out our Father’s work? Faith works.
