What are your current battles? I’m sure you have more than one, we’re in the age of multitasking, right?
Do you find yourself wanting to be “right” in disputes or disagreements?
I feel like that’s been a theme lately. Everyone has an opinion and everyone is “right” in their own opinion. I mean, everyone has a right to their own opinion, but is it right, as in, correct? What is it based from? Is it from experience, expert analysis, facts??
We, all inclusively, fight battles for the sake of being right. What about the people who insert themselves into a discussion just because they know about it and they’re right? Why? Maybe that brings some kind of gratification and satisfaction. Honestly, even that is temporary.
Let’s talk eternal, then.
We’re fighting so many battles for the sake of being “right” but are we right with the Lord?
If you don’t know where to start, you can’t go wrong with the ABCs 🙂 These can be done at any time and maybe going over them as you prayerfully ask God to show you where you’ve sinned or where you need to take a step back from a situation can be helpful as well. Even as mature Christians, you need reminders of where you started and what’s important.
A – admit
Admit to God that you are a sinner. You??? Yes, you! You sinned today, in case you didn’t know. In some way, you didn’t do this or instead you did that. We are selfish in nature. We have to continually, daily fight our own flesh to choose God’s way and what He has for us.
B – believe
Believe that Jesus is God’s Son and accept God’s gift of forgiveness of sin. A reminder of who Jesus is and what He means to us as Christians is pivotal! Sometimes you’ll be going along, coasting if you will, and suddenly, you have this reminder that Jesus literally died for you. He died for YOU. Before you were born, God knew you. Jesus knew you. WHOA. Then, you’re tore up and you may even be moved to tears, I know sometimes I am because I know I’m not perfect and I don’t deserve this!
C-confess
Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. You’ve strayed and maybe lost sight of the reward, the prize, the goal. Sometimes, when my routine gets off, naturally my time with the Lord shifts. I feel out of balance when I haven’t been regularly in His Word or talking to Him. I have to confess that, Lord, You are God and Ruler over all. Nothing I do can save me, but if I surrender and confess my faith in You, then… and only then, will I be renewed.
Maybe when you examine yourself, you don’t go to the ABCs. There are other techniques or little exercises that would help. Sometimes, we get so focused on being right in this world even that the battle doesn’t even pertain to what would be on the Lord’s radar and doesn’t grow our faith at all. It might actually be taking away from our spiritual growth.
All this to say, maybe just choose your battles and really examine the worth of them before you try to be right for the world instead of for the Lord.
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
Romans 3:23
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
Psalm 118:1
Amen, sister!
