THE BASICS

Let’s be real… we’re all thankful for the basics of life. I’m going to start off the Thursday Thankfulness with this though to get these out of the way! πŸ™‚

Family

I guess, not every one has a blood family – either living or just close by. I have both and I’m so thankful! No family is perfect, but we always come through hardships, trials, heartache, and deep struggle stronger and closer. I spend most of my time at home with family. Family is also really important to me. Family has always been a priority to me and if I have the chance to go to another state or another town to see extended family, I’m all in. I was blessed in this regard.

Shelter

OklaHOMEa – yes, where I call home. That’s where I’ve had a roof over my head forever. Again, family comes in great because all through college I was at home and I guess, I still am because hey, that’s how it is. I’m thankful that I’ve been given a home with the family I have.

Food

FOOD IS AWESOME. Can you agree? You gotta! Food (and water!) keep us going. Isn’t it amazing how even if I didn’t have Chick-fil-a like 2 or 3 times a week, God would still ALWAYS provide nourishment? #extreme

REAL: So many around the world and in our backyards go without food. This time of year there are food drives and places that serve a turkey and dressing meal or something like that, but we should remember that hunger knows no time of year. It is constant and so we should also be willing to constantly fill that need.

Clothing

I have all I need in clothing, probably more, sometimes it feels less (I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR) and so during this time of year I’m probably getting new knee high socks, a new coat or maybe even new boots??? It’s fun to get new clothes.

Here in Oklahoma, we actually have four seasons, all not the same length of time (spring is 1 month, summer is 6 months, fall is 2 weeks, and winter is about 4 and a half months *shrug*). This means people are in desperate need of warm clothing during the winter months. It can get pretty intense outside… So maybe when we buy ourselves a new coat or new socks, we could buy another one and donate it. You know you’re probably using a coupon on anyway πŸ™‚

Every Little Thing

It’s these little things in life we should always be thankful for because so many go without. We were blessed by God, why don’t we also be a blessing in someone else’s life.

What are you thankful for today??

  1. Great post! I think many times we take the basics for granted. So it’s good to take time to remember these blessings!
