I was getting ready one morning and a literal thought while I was brushing my teeth, was “you know how socks are” and I don’t know where it came from. So, hey, you’re welcome.

I’m pretty sure all of us wear socks. I’d probably go so far as to say socks are just as important as other undergarments, especially if we’re going outside and out in public. 😂

But have you ever thought about how socks are made?

There may be some socks that aren’t particular how you put them on because they’re like flat and not shaped? But I don’t have any so I’m not sure. And for the purpose of this blog post…

All my socks are pre-shaped and there’s one way to put them on. It doesn’t matter which foot they go on (usually..) but they have to go on with the heel on the bottom. A sock doesn’t work right if the heel part is at the top. 😳

We should know how Christians are!

Yes, I’m comparing sock and Christians today. It’s a Friday, so I thought we could get a little weird.

Socks come in all sizes and colors, but they all have the same purpose. Socks are universally acknowledged as a clothing item for your feet. I don’t know where else a sock goes, but meet me in the comments if you have concrete evidence otherwise.

So, similarly, Christians are different sizes and colors, but we’ve all been commissioned.

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

That purpose may be lived out differently. Maybe you’re a polka dot sock inside a pair of solid black slides or you’re the socks with the grippers on the bottom to help someone not slip and fall on hardwoods or tiles in their home.

The way in which we live out our purpose isn’t the issue. Are you sharing the Gospel?
