High Priest

Jesus Centered Bible – questions and answers category goes through the questions given throughout the New Testament of the Bible I use and I give my answers and thoughts. Always, feel free to comment your thoughts and your own answers to these questions!

The question

What makes Jesus, the ultimate โ€œhigh priest,โ€ different from all the other high priests before Him? Referenced in Hebrews 7:26-28.

The answer

He was not only fully human, but fully God. No other priest had that characteristic.

Not only that but the priests then couldnโ€™t enter behind the veil and enter the holy of the holiest.

For Jesus, He was God but He had all access direct to the Father.

Moving forward in time, His death on the cross tore the veil and allowed us to commune with God and not need all rituals and sacrifices in order to be reconciled to God for a time.

What a blessing that we can call on Jesus our High Priest!

A great post, Summer. Jesus is the only one who has never sinned. So His place as the High Priest cannot be rivaled. What a gift we have in Jesus โ™ฅ๏ธ
