Wellspring of my Soul

Have you ever gone most of the day without food? Maybe even without a proper amount of water? You donโ€™t feel so great, do you? I get real weak and shaky, maybe even pass out from it.

Our eating and drinking is important. Keeping our fuel up, our tank full, matters.

Thereโ€™s a well, a river, a fountain, that never runs dry. Have you had it before?

I was eating my Chick-fil-A meal (this isnโ€™t the fuel Iโ€™m talking about, but I love this transition ๐Ÿ˜‚) late one Friday evening, later than I would normally eat, when this thought occurred to me.

Listen, I know that sometimes we may eat more in one day if we think we may not eat for a while in the next. Does that really help?

In speaking on water, I know that when you drink, youโ€™re drinking for that day in particular. You canโ€™t drink enough today to get you through tomorrow. It just doesnโ€™t work that way. (But oh, how I wish it didโ€ฆ)

Same thing with God. He gives us each enough for every day. Each morning, His mercies are new. Each morning, we have new opportunities, new chances to drink from the well that never runs dry. The grace for each day is dependent on the day, not us. Itโ€™s a gift from God intentionally measured by what He knows is ahead of us, not what we think will happen based on our plans.

We donโ€™t have to drink more from the well today to help us in the drought tomorrow.

If we have to drink from his well a bit more today then do it, but tomorrow will have its own needs and we can come back to the well again at that time.

Some days we need God more deeply than others. Some days weโ€™re spending more time with Him because the day and our capacity (lack thereof) calls for it.

God will never say youโ€™re too much for Him or that youโ€™ve used up all your allotted prayer time. You are not too much for Him. Your needs arenโ€™t too much for His supply. While weโ€™re finite beings right now, with seemingly finite supplies of resources on earth, He is infinite in His character and in His supply to get us through whatever lies ahead.

Do you need a reminder of what this means for you today?

  • We serve an infinite God whoโ€™s bigger than our circumstances. Release control and depend on His strength.
  • You or your circumstances arenโ€™t too big for Him to handle.
  • The power of God is only a call away.
  • Our soul is protected by the One who created us, knowing that we would face challenges in this world. Trust in Him.
  • Donโ€™t borrow trouble thinking of tomorrow when today is right in front of you.
