Just Bread Things

If someone asked you where do you get your bread, what would you say?

Would you reply with your favorite grocery store?

What about the farmers market?

What if you know someone who’s basically your bread dealer? 👀

They make bread at home, LOL.

But what if you said you get your daily bread from His Word?

That’d probably get ‘em!

I personally try not to eat a lot of bread (don’t look in my lunch box, it’s always a PB&J 😂), so I’m not picky. We get bread from the grocery store (white bread because we’re boring, if you’re wondering).

Purely based on experience over about 29 years, I’ve had a lot of bread in my day. Do you know how many loaves someone would eat over their lifetime? I don’t know, but maybe you can guess! It’s gotta be a lot. Kind of makes me sick to think about. 😂

Bread is FILLING. Have you ever been to one of those restaurants that give you bread before your meal? You get a basket or a cutting board of bread. You eat it. “Do you need more bread?” And three yeses later, you’re getting your meal delivered to your table with a to-go box because you are literally stuffed on bread. I hope you ordered something that tastes good heated up later at home!

For some people, bread isn’t even good for them unless it’s a gluten free kind. Loading up on bread isn’t good for even more reasons. We can’t just eat carbs. (I know, tragic facts.)

What we feed our bodies matters and so does what we feed our minds!

But he answered, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”

Matthew 4:4

What we feed our minds have impacts on our lives. It may not be instant (but sometimes it is), but over time, our thoughts and what we’re taking in (either written word or video) will affect us.

For me, I’ve probably mentioned before, that I’m hard on myself. I internalize and just get frustrated with myself. Why don’t you know what to do? Why can’t you figure this out? You know better.

Turning those negative thoughts into positives over time will adjust your reflexes and your overall countenance. Part of that comes with meditating on His truths – what He says about life and about you.

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Romans 12:2

Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”

John 6:35

Who do you go to for truth? Who do you go to for bread? If what we’re filling up on is called the “bread of our life,” what are you filling up on?

While I’m still working on adjusting my thoughts to the more positive variety, I have seen a difference when I remember and let His truths turn over in my mind more often than the negative thoughts that easily slip through.

While you’re loading up on the bread of your choice, remember to also stay hydrated because it’s hot out there, y’all.

Take a moment to name one good thing that happened each day this week!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Great reflection. I’m so thankful that when we get our daily bread, He nourishes us and gives us the nutrients we need. ♥️
