Chance After Chance

One of the main things I’ve noticed while reading Revelation is all the chances God gives people to turn back to Him.

In almost every situation, destruction is imminent but yet… God’s final judgement hasn’t come. We still have time. Whether we’re the ones that need to repent and turn to Him for the first time or we need to go tell others, there’s still time.

Up until the very last moment, people will be saved by turning back to their Creator, believing in Jesus and what He died for. Wouldn’t that be wild to be the last person and then God says, okay, we’re good, it’s time.

With that line of thinking, it’s easy to even feel like… is it fair? There are some people who have gone their whole lives – grown up in church, saved, haven’t gone astray in major ways. Then there are those like I mentioned who will be saved at the very end after living a life apart from God and dead in their sin and won’t live their earthly lives in their changed form. We will all regardless receive the same reward of Heaven – of living eternally with our God, not matter when we were adopted.

In Matthew 20, Jesus speaks to us about the laborers in the vineyard. Throughout the day the master is hiring workers, but at the end of the day, each one he hires receives the same payment regardless of how long they worked in the vineyard that day. It doesn’t seem fair, but he did tell all the workers what the pay would be from the beginning. “Do this work, and this will be your payment for the day.”

In Christianity, our responsibility is to respond in obedience when He calls out to us. When we turn to Him with a heart full of faith and devotion, we receive the reward He promised us after death. Our reward is in Heaven. We should rejoice when even one person returns to the Lord. Make Heaven full!

As Christians, it’s likely that we mess up on a daily basis in some way. Whether it’s be words, thoughts or actions, it doesn’t matter. We’re still growing and learning – or we should be anyway – and there are others out there seeing how we respond. It’s hard to live a life with sin and that’s why Jesus came and died for us. We will never be good enough on our own, but God… He gives us chance after chance when we come to Him, confessing our sins and failures. We don’t deserve this grace, but He mercifully provides over and over and secures our place as His children.

How have you experienced His grace lately?

Have you thought about those who will be saved at the very last?

With Revelation in mind, how does it affect your evangelism?

Have a great Tuesday!! If you’re provided the opportunity this week, share with someone that it’s not too late – for anything.

I experience his grace a lot. Our struggle is always there in this life. But his mercies are new every morning.
