Summer’s Book-life Ahead for 2024

I know we haven’t quite finished up 2023, and I haven’t posted about this month’s reads yet, but can we talk about 2024???

Doing it anyway!

There are a few noteworthy things to talk about ahead of the new year.

I’ll be keeping track of how much I spend on books. Probably all along, that would be a good idea, but why keep track has been my thing when I just buy if I can. 😂 Not very wise. One of my friends challenged me to do this and for every dollar I invest in books I also put into savings. I’m a saver anyway (the piles of books I own are glaring at me right now even though I’m saving for a house with a library… come on) so any way for me to save more… I’m game.

So this way, I will probably spend less and think twice about buying more books. At least physical copies. The ones I just have to have, like my favorite authors (and the ones I preorder 👀), I will sacrifice for.

I’m looking forward to this even though it’s an additional step and something that may make me go crazy by February. With the Lord’s strength and grace, this will be good for me and I will make it through this. 😁

I’ve found and read so many good books this year. Even just the past month. It’s almost overwhelming how many great authors I’ve found in a really short span of time, let’s be real. I have enough books to last years probably – between my TBR stack in my room and the Want To Read books on GoodReads I’ve marked.

Next year is going to be such a great reading year!!

I’m looking forward to more clean hockey romances and romcoms to fill my little world. Annah Conwell is providing us with many books in 2024 that are on my radar and will most definitely make it into my book buying budget. A sports series? That includes hockey and golf? Whoa. I’m sold. Plus, Becky Wade is releasing another book on my birthday??? My heart can barely handle.

This is the final month of a Bibliophile’s Path Forward!! The time has flown by this year. That could be a blessing. It was a great year in some ways, and not so great in others, as the years typically are, I guess. 🙂

Next month will kick off the first month with our new series title!! Can you guess what it’ll be? I’ve left the three options below, feel free to drop a comment with your guess! You’ll find out next month if you were right. 😉

Historical Account of a Bibliophile

The Saga of a Bookworm Continues

12 Chronicles of a Bookworm

Is it shocking to you that I’ve never before finished Pride & Prejudice or watched the movie?

My cousin, who is a huge fan, has incentivized me to finish the book so we can have a binge of all things Pride & Prejudice together. I don’t know that I’ll finish it this month, but that’ll happen in 2024 and I am so looking forward to it! My reading progress, or lack thereof doesn’t reflect my feelings half of the time, LOL.

Not in my reading book-life, but in my writing book-life, the writing continues!!

I’ve been writing, writing, writing. For me, a day of writing doesn’t equal much probably. I’d love to push out whole sections of a novel, but progress is progress, am I right??

I’ve been trying to just focus on the story that’s flowing in my head and getting those ideas out as they come. The annoying thing is when inspiration hits when you’re unable to get them out – you’re driving, or so tired you can’t type – and then you don’t remember what the idea was.

I’ve made my pen name, Nevada Winters, public and have started by posting these three aesthetic tiles. Find them on IG: Nevada_Winters

Book One
Book Two
Book Three

I’m too pumped about them to keep them all locked and bottled up for long so…

Sneak peak of some quotes thus far:

Luke & Sky 😂 full of banter, this book.
Jack & Laurel ❤️ friends to more

I am so excited for these stories to be out in the world one day so I’m sure that eventually they will be. I’m getting serious about it and I hope that 2024 is fruitful in this regard with God’s guidance and will for it. I’ll have to continue to work on giving myself grace, so there’s that, too.

I don’t want to set any unrealistic goals, but I’d like to at least finish something in 2024 and have someone read it and tell me what they think. That’s all I’m going to hope for right now.

I’ll keep you posted!!

As usual, you can expect my December reading recap post later on New Year’s Eve- I’ll be up late putting the finishing touches on it maybe so I’d say between 8pm and midnight CT.

I hope you have a great New Year, stay safe and look forward to reading together in 2024!

I’m not much of a Bookstagrammer at all, but I like to talk about books in my “story” on my blog’s IG: NotYourSeason and I like to keep up with my books on GoodReads: notyourseason

  1. A post all about reading and writing = fun times 🤩
I like the idea of keeping track on your spending and also putting the same amount in savings. I might consider doing that too. Like you, I have plenty of books to read in 2024. So my hope is to not buy new books, unless they are a “ have to have.” I don’t know if it will happen though. 📚
For the new series title, my guess is “ The Saga of a Bookworm Continues.” But I love them all! ♥️
I love Pride and Prejudice! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the book and movies. 🎥
Wow – I’m amazed at how much progress you have made in writing. I love the sneak peeks so far! How exciting. I will be praying that God continues to help you unfold these stories. Also, about getting ideas at inopportune times – maybe you can keep a notebook where you scratch down your idea?📝
I’m now following Nevada Winters on IG! 😁
I hope your New Years weekend is safe and joyful. And I pray your 2024 is blessed! 🥳

      So fun!! ☺️
I’m more than halfway through P&P so hopefully soon. I’ve really enjoyed and I’ve known the gist of the story for a while. I’ve tried a few times to read it and it’s just written so differently from how we write now, and in the US, too, I guess, LOL. I’m excited to finish and watch!
I keep a word doc on my phone for easy access so I jot stuff when I can, if it’s not an inconvenient time 😅
Thank you for your support!! ❤️
I hope your New Year is safe and joyful too!! 🥳🤩🙏🏻
