NaNoWriMo 2023 Recap

As you may have read previously, this year I took NaNoWriMo seriously and worked on some stories. Iโ€™m working on a three book series right now. Whether theyโ€™ll ever actually be published is another story, but I am working on them anyway.

Although I didnโ€™t finish anything or get all that I wanted typed up, I feel so accomplished and achieved more than I ever have before in regards to writing a story.

My process changed at the beginning of the month when I realized I didnโ€™t have to write out a plan from the beginning. I can just write and plan as I go. This has helped tremendously!

When ideas have come to me at odd times, I add a thought to my idea notes and then Iโ€™ll go back later and write the whole scene. Iโ€™ve reorganized my scenes and added more detail where needed.

Even though Iโ€™m trying to cool my roll with the reading this past month, thatโ€™s not happening and Iโ€™m also still piling on the book buying. ๐Ÿ™„ Iโ€™m ridiculous. Among those books, Iโ€™ve ordered some books about writing and books to help me with details that I always get lost on.

Itโ€™s been such a good month in the writing and reading world. Iโ€™ve found encouragement from those who are also writing actively and those who support my writing aspirations.

Throughout this process, even though I highly doubt Iโ€™ll be the next favorite author on the scene, Iโ€™ve learned and grown so much in my writing that itโ€™s boosted my confidence. I can do this. Iโ€™m capable of letting words flow from my fingers and I can still be creative – which is something I thought I had lost. Reality says I just needed to tap into creativity again.

If youโ€™ve been following along, thank you for being here for this journey! I hope that Iโ€™ll have books in the world someday, God willing. If not, thatโ€™s something I can accept, too.

Hereโ€™s what Iโ€™ve accomplished this month:

Three book series progressโ€ฆ

Book #1: 12,913

Book #2: 7,844

Book #3: 9,678

With ideas for a series related to book 3 characters. ๐Ÿ˜
