Christmas Reads 2023

The post you’ve been waiting for . . .

As the year progresses, so does the amount of books read. The changing of time does not change my love for all things books.

Throughout the year I’ve accumulated a good list of recommendable books about or set at Christmas. This year, that’s 18 books!

It’s that time of year where you may be in the mood for such a book and if you’re in the need of a recommendation, check out some of these!

Keep in mind that these are pretty much just in order of how I read them this past year and not in any kind of rank. No full book reviews since I’ve already blogged about them. I’ve included the original blog posts where they were blogged originally in case you are so interested.

I didn’t start giving star ratings until later in the year, so some of these will not include those.

Don’t forget to follow on GoodReads @notyourseason 🙂

A Royal Christmas Fairy Take by Karen Schaler

7/10/2023-7/14/2023

This was a surprisingly better read than I thought by looking at the blurb.

The Hope of Christmas Past by Stephenia H. McGee

7/15/2023

A time travel read with faith element.

Christmas Baggage by Deborah M. Hathaway

7/15/2023-7/18/2023

British accent and clean romance.

Host for the Holidays by Martha Keyes

7/19/2023-7/21/2023

Hilarious, forced proximity romcom at Christmas + French accent. I followed this up months later with a continuation of the story with the side characters as MMC and FMC.

Faking Christmas by Cindy Steel

7/21/2023-7/24/2023

Hilarioussssss. Omg this one was great!! Just a feel good Christmas romcom.

A Newport Christmess by Jess Heileman

8/5/2023-8/6/2033

Pretty funny forced proximity – being setup trope.

His Stand-In Holiday Girlfriend by Kasey Stockton

10/1/2023

Quick and fun read.

Snowed in on Main Street by Kasey Stockton

10/1/2023-10/2/2023

Cute and sweet Christmas read.

An Awestruck Christmas Medley by Emily Conrad

10/2/2023-10/4/2023

Probably want to read book one of the Rhythms of Redemption series to understand some backstory here and this is also a book that deals with deeper issues continued from book one.

To be read after reading book one in the Rhythms of Redemption series.

Melodies and Mistletoe by Kasey Stockton

10/6/2023

I loved this one!

Second Chance for Sugarplums by Emily Dana Botrous

10/7/2023

A cute redemptive story at Christmas. I read this after the next book in series, so I was glad to go back before going forward even more lol

Marrying the Rancher’s Daughter by Tara Grace Ericson

10/26/2023-10/27/2023

5 stars because marriage of convenience always gets me.

Remembering the Rancher by Liwen Y. Ho

10/27/2033

I loved this one and I honestly didn’t think I would based off the description. Story of redemption and God’s plan for good.

Better Watch Out by Natalie Walters

10/29/2023-10/31/2023

A new to me author that I hope writes more stories like this. Loved that the security guys (most anyway) were former NHL players. Lol

Amending the Christmas Contract by Hannah Jo Abbott

11/2/2023

Not blogged about yetttt. Marriage of convenience. Second chance romance. So sweet and swoony.

Heritage by Mary Davis

11/4/2023-11/5/2023

Not blogged about yet. Never read this author before but thanks to an estate sale find… I’d recommend. Setting was 20 years ago when – I know, GASP – cell phones were a new thing.

The Stand-in Christmas Date by Rachel John

11/7/2023-11/8/2023

Not blogged about yet. SO CUTE!!! This was like a mistaken identity turned I don’t care I like you anyway and it was just sweet how they learned things along the way.

The Christmas Bachelor Auction by Rachel John

11/8/2023-11/11/2023

Another not blogged about yet – second in the Matched by Mistake series of standalone novellas. Adorbs!!

I will probably read more Christmas novels this year, but will store those up for next year’s post. 🙂

Let me know if you read any of these or comment some Christmas reads you’d recommend to me or any of other readers who may stop by!

  1. Yes! This is the post I’ve been waiting for! 😂 thank you! I don’t remember you reading so many Christmas stories this year. So I definitely appreciate this list. I will be looking for some of these! They all sound delightful. 🎄
Some of the Christmas books I read this year, you had featured in prior years. I didn’t realize I would have so many to mention!
    – Blessings on State Street by Rachael Bloome. Rachael’s books are always a win!
    – Christmas Present by Laurel Hawkes. This is a novella. This author has a series of novellas, all on different holidays.
    – Christmas Lost by Laurel Hawkes. Part of the same series above.
    – New Beginnings by Rachel Good. This is a novella and part of the book Amish Christmas Twins, with two other novellas by different authors. I didn’t read all of the stories because I had to get the book back to the library. I can say the one I read was a sweet story.
    – A December Bride by Denise Hunter. A novella that I’ve read before. But I love it so much, I had to read it again.
    – Love Delivered by B.M. Baker. A really sweet novella.
    – My True Love Gave to Me by Karen Witemeyer. This is a really short story, but worth the read.
    – Once Upon a Dickens Christmas by Michelle Griep. Three novellas in this book, set in 1800s England.
    – Catching Christmas by Terri Blackstock. I just started reading this, so more to come on that when I comment on your post about your November reads!
