Seasons Change & Things

The world was pounding in my ears it felt like and I couldnโ€™t do anything but get a creative idea out even though it was already past my bedtime that I miss consistently every night because books and life.

Iโ€™ve been sick with COVID for a few days, but it actually feels like way longer since Iโ€™ve mostly only seen the inside of my bedroom and only made it as far as the front porch for fresh air. The napping has been unreal. Like how much sleep do I need here?

To answer you, Iโ€™m feeling a lot better. Still tired and weak, but the whole time I never had anything more than a low grade fever of 99ยฐ. Mostly just some head congestion that gave me an annoying headache for a few days and drained the life out of me.

It could have just been allergies, but I have a positive test result to say otherwise.

Itโ€™s that time of year, though, for the seasons to change and finally the worst season of them all, summer, is coming to itโ€™s blessed end. Bring on the fall and winter vibes, please.

This month so far weโ€™ve been teased with some hockey news, whatโ€™s to come and some players that have already signed to our teams for the next hockey season. Iโ€™ve also had the privilege to read several books (if youโ€™ve been following this bibliophileโ€™s journey on GoodReads, youโ€™ll know just how manyโ€ฆ) so far this month that have been amazing. Theyโ€™ve inspired me and sent me into book-hangovers like you wouldnโ€™t believe!

September has also brought exciting new learning opportunities within the Word! I hope to share more of that soon when Iโ€™m able to articulate it into something you can read instead of try to figure out. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Right now itโ€™s all mush in my brain. With that being said, Iโ€™ve started studying Revelation and Iโ€™m trying not to be overwhelmed. Thereโ€™s a lot to take in and understand, but itโ€™s also important to not be so in the details that we miss the big picture, so Iโ€™m balancing that in my reading and studying time.

In other Bible life news, Bible Study Fellowship has kicked off again! I wasnโ€™t sure if I was even going to go this semesterโ€ฆ I never told them I was going so I didnโ€™t expect a call or text from a new group leader. When I got one though, I decided this is my sign. Thereโ€™s no reason to not go, except my laziness and I donโ€™t want to be lazy soooโ€ฆ Iโ€™m putting in the effort this year. I also purchased one of the spiral bound lesson books. Itโ€™s a ridiculous thing to note here (maybe) but I was such a tree hugging hypocrite to use so much of my own paper to hand write all the notes and questions with my answers from the app because I need a paper copy. It used a lot more paper Iโ€™m sure in the long run than just me buying their book. So now itโ€™s all in one paper copy place. I feel like Iโ€™ll have my life together this way and I donโ€™t have to spend so much time writing, which was really getting old for me. Anywayโ€ฆ this yearโ€™s study is on the Gospel of John. Iโ€™ve read John beforeโ€ฆ but Iโ€™m looking forward to this dive and what God will illuminate for me this time around.

In the next month Iโ€™m looking forward to more amazing books being released and more books being read and more books being orderedโ€ฆ most of my hobbies are book related at this point. Itโ€™s quite fascinating how Iโ€™ve found a book community online. Like itโ€™s not just me fangirling over books. I knew I wasnโ€™t alone, but I donโ€™t know many people in real life who devour and have book moments the way I do.

Also, in about a month, hockey season begins here and Iโ€™m just ahhhhhh, waiting! I canโ€™t wait. Itโ€™s been a very long summer of no hockey. Not enough news has popped up about the team so far, but our Tulsa Oilers are getting a new practice arena with two rinks! Itโ€™ll be finish sometime late this year (2023) and itโ€™ll also be home for the OSU hockey team which I think is really cool as well.

What has September brought for you and what are you looking forward to in the next month or so?

Stay well, friends. โค๏ธ

  1. Iโ€™m so sorry you have been sick. I hope you get better asap. โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉน I am currently reading Revelation. I wouldnโ€™t say I am โ€œstudyingโ€ it per se. It just so happens that I was reading through the New Testament and therefore have reached the last book. Itโ€™s funny because we watch different pastors on TBN, and a few of them have mentioned Revelation lately too. ๐Ÿค” Yay for hockey starting soon! ๐Ÿ’
