Where’s the 98%?

Today’s question of the day involves a deep dive into 2% questions. And the puns? Yeah, we’re milking it.

It was in a coffee shop in Arizona where my friend said the punniest thing one can when the subject of milk gets inserted into a conversation. I can’t remember the complete dialogue, but ultimately, he was like “2% milk? Is the rest water?” And really, that’s what keeps me up at night. I just need answers.

I feel, like, I’m my life, this exact question has been address previously. I bet it even ranks as a top question for Google. Maybe not in the top 10, but on a list somewhere, it’s at that top. I tend to forget things unless I write them down and study them. Do I study milk? Not really. I actually watch how much dairy I consume so I limit myself – if I drink a coffee that day, that’s it. If I have a glass of milk, that’s it. If I have a bowl of cereal, it’s borderline because that doesn’t take that much milk. But anyway… you don’t need a dietary run-down.

What does 2% mean as far as milk goes and why is that the go-to in my world? Because I was raised on 2%!!

According to Google (tbh, GonnaNeedMilk.com), reduced-fat milk is labeled as 2 percent milk, which means the milkfat is 2 percent of the total weight of the milk – not that an 8-ounce glass of milk contains 2 percent fat.

Who even knew milk had fat? I mean I knew in a general sense, but like.. it’s liquid. It doesn’t make sense, in a simple sense, that there would be fat in a liquid. I think of fat on a piece of meat or something, but that’s just me, probably, most likely.

In this quick research here, I’ve learned that 2% isn’t that healthy since it’s has more fat than the other milks. *sigh* More things to digest, no pun intended.

2% with a chance that the 98% is just shook up.

That’s all folks! Thanks for stopping by and reading this nonsense.

***update: I actually wasn’t raised on 2% milk, but rather, my brain is so confused by all the different labels and names of milk, that I thought Vitamin D milk was 2% like a NOOB.***

  1. Thank you for this enlightening and educational post! 😅 I never really thought about it before, so it is interesting. I don’t drink milk often. I really want milk when I have something rich, like a brownie. I do drink coffee, but I drink it black. Anyway, thanks! I enjoyed this. And I especially liked your closing sentence. I had a good chuckle. 😂

I don’t pay attention to milk even though I drink it… because I continue to learn… and realize we don’t get 2%, we get Vitamin D milk! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I am the 98% and I am most definitely shook! Lol
Talk of milk makes me want a glass though. If you ever get a cupcake in a bowl and pour milk over it…? Delicious. 😎
      Thanks for stopping by!! 😂
