Where Did Repentance Run Off To?

I feel like I need to start this post off with a facepalm…

Why?

Because repentance doesn’t run off. The fact that I’m so frustrated at times at the lack of repentance in the world is just insane.

Maybe this is exaggerated, but is it though…?

What got me ticked off this time? Ha.

Well if I say it started on social media… there’s your sign of how this will go. 😃

Instagram is great. It really is. It has great things on there. It also has unbiblical, faith-degrading lies on there though.

Scroller beware!

Upon one of many scrolls on the ol’ gram, I happened upon on one of the multitude of posts of “pride” and how this is “okay” and we should embrace love in all forms.

The sad part about this world is that it thinks the world’s love is the same or just as good as God’s love. They don’t comprehend a difference in the two. Or they think they can find the love in the world without the true love of God.

Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them.

1 John 4:5

I think where people get it wrong (this is an assumption on my part, by the way) is that God is love and God created us. But the caveat to that is that we as humans created these other things, including a form of love that’s a total rip-off of what God intended.

Remember that sin in and of itself is a twisting of what God intended, wanting something our way and not His. God intended things, including love, to be good. That’s how God created them. But when used or morphed into things He hasn’t ordained, then those things are also not good and aren’t from God.

So back to the gram.

I started thinking after seeing this post, just like, ya know, they’re “preaching,” so to speak, a false theology and Gospel about acceptance, but how can you just accept the way you are and not feel like you need to change due to the relationship you’ve come to have with Jesus? If there’s no repentance or remorse over sin, what relationship do you have with Jesus?

Somewhere along all the reform and progressive Christianity out there, repentance has been forgotten.

It irritates me. Does it irritate you?

Sometimes I wonder if my irritation is irrational. I don’t think it is, but that’s what this blog space is for – for all my irrational thoughts and questions and I’ll look back on this…

I digress.

It’s just taking advantage of His grace to basically say that “Well, He’s just going to forgive me anyway and He accepts me as I am, so I’m going to keep on living the way I am.”

The audacity 🥺

So here I am stewing about a post about “pride” and the spreading of the “truth” (the posts and comments they had were just 🙃) about the Christianity and how Christianity tends to exclude those in that circle of sin (what it really is, but what they don’t call it).

It just really breaks my heart to know that so many people go through life with a lie in their hearts and minds that acceptance is all there is. Ugh.

Not everyone who calls out to me, “Lord! Lord!” will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter.

Matthew 7:21

God accepts us where we are, whatever circumstances brought us to Him. That’s part of our story, our testimony. We’re not meant to stay there though. He has such great purposes for us, to take us away from sin.

Imagine a world where there’s a Savior that will save us from sin. This world accepts and believes in this Savior, but chooses to live in the sin instead.

Doesn’t that just break your heart?

It’s like there’s no walking and talking with Jesus. If there were, there’s be a visible change. They wouldn’t look so much like the world in the way they live and talk.

A tree is identified by its fruit. If a tree is good, it’s fruit will be good. If a tree is bad, it’s fruit will be bad. You brood of snakes! How could evil men like you speak what is good and right? For whatever is in your heart determines what you say. A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. And I tell you this, you must give an account on judgement day for every idle word you speak.

Matthew 12:33-36

This is the part of my writing where I’ve turned upside down in my reading chair in the corner. Im just… I don’t know. I have a lot on my mind (writing this on Tuesday to post later in the week) and I’m choosing to stay up late to write this up. Wise choices right after Bible Study, huh? 😅

Thanks for reading my thoughts today. 🙂

  1. I understand and you are not being irrational. It is very sad indeed. And my heart hurts for those who are so lost and think that their actions are okay. 😭
