Heart Issues: What The Spirit Can Do

To follow up my previous post…. Educate or Defund

I said that we can’t begin a change in people’s mind and hearts without educating them, the alternative to basically defunding police. Racism is something that is learned. When it’s learned it gets into the person’s heart.

What if throwing education at people isn’t enough?

The church itself, as a whole, needs to take a stand against racism. Being silent for so long has made the church complacent and has made it seem like to non-believers that perhaps we have been condoning it and allowing it to continue.

Many may even have racial tensions inside the walls of the church. They may have been discriminated against. They may have been viewed less than within their church family. How awful.

I completely believe that if you are one to let a person’s skin color treat them differently, you’re not walking in the Spirit. The Spirit does not condone or tolerate racism. If you’re one with the spirit as a born-again Christian, this is not something you 1) be a part of and 2) tolerate.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart;

do not depend on your own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

Educate by example in the church. One of the simplest ways to be an example is to be inviting and accepting of a diverse church congregation.

The Spirit is a miraculous benefit to us, thanks to our Savior Jesus Christ. We would be LOST without the spirit. Even then, some who claim to be Christians have been wandering lost, just not walking in the Spirit. They are blind and they are uneducated. It’s very possible that those who are blind are completely shocked to learn that Jesus was not in fact white. Thank the Lord, tbh.

Create in me a clean heart, O God.

Renew a loyal spirit within me.

Psalm 51:10

All this to say… even as the hope in our country and humanity may seem far off, we DO still have hope BECAUSE of Jesus Christ and the sacrifice that was made over 2000 years ago. If you’re feeling discouraged or don’t know where to turn, just know that He is there, He’s with you, He knows what you’re going through. We are all in this together and no difference in skin color will keep us from forming the church, being the church and being in heaven together, when He returns. Keep the faith.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

Romans 12:2
Pray Over This: Psalm 51:10

My prayers go out to those who have suffered in some way, some worse than others, the cruelty of the world. Please take heart and know that there is good in the world and the good in this world… it’s not OF this world.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted;

he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Psalm 34:18

May the words of my mouth

and the meditation of my heart

be pleasing to you,

O Lord, my rock and redeemer.

Psalm 19:14
