What Makes a Library… a Library?

Googled definition:

I asked my grandma, “What makes a library a library?” Her response was “Books, people?” Her answer was a question so… maybe she thought this was Jeopardy.

A library is an atmosphere. To me, a library is neither hot nor cold. It technically has to be temperature controlled, for obvious reasons. It’s also just the books themselves. A library reminds me of knowledge. Think about all the different words that have been printed on paper that are shelved and housed in a singular room. A TON.

I think a library is also filled with wisdom. It took a lot of people to make a single book come together in most cases. Some books are complex and some are straight-forward.

I have a library of books already in my bedroom… but will one day have a library ROOM in my home. *so excited*

  1. I have worked at two different libraries, so libraries are special to me. I think a good library, whether a building or a room, should contain cozy places to read. If it is in a home, then I would recommend a window seat. That is my dream and something I was thinking about recently. So it is ironic that you brought this up.

For sure! I feel the same way. Itโ€™s so cool youโ€™ve worked at two libraries before!!

I recently visited a library. It has been a few years since I last went to a library, sat down to read a book. Thereโ€™s something I love about the library. I love the quietness and the variety of books one can pick from whether it be a fiction novel or a magazine.
