This post is inspired by my car tag frame I purchased in September at the state fair. It reads: DO YOU FOLLOW JESUS THIS CLOSE?

One thing I’ve noticed on social media is the following of singers, musicians and athletes. I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all to hit the “follow” button and see what they’re posting like you would a family member or friend. The following I’m talking about is placing what they do, when you’re going to see them or when they’re going to notice you over your time with God and your understanding of Jesus’ huge sacrifice for you.

This is called creating idols.

Our goal as Christians is to continuously grow in the likeness to Christ. How do we do that? We have to spend time and follow Him. If we’re chasing after other things or people, we are ultimately rejecting Him. We can not do both fully.

No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other…

Matthew 6:24

Jesus literally brings light to our dark world. Who wouldn’t want to follow Him??

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.
