I know that’s what the Bible says, but the world has changed since it was written.
– some Christians
Have you thought this before?
It’s amazing how many people wholeheartedly believe this to be true. That because the years keeping rolling on that the Bible is any less relevant. What is Christianity if there is no Bible? I’ll tell you what it is: it’s merely a group of people you can claim to be a part of SOME of the time. Let’s face it, people today say “Well, yeah, I believe in God, I know Jesus, but I don’t believe what those OTHER Christians believe.” Those other Christians being those who walk and talk with Jesus, study the Word regularly, pray regularly, practice the teachings of Jesus, etc. The first group wouldn’t stand up for God, for Jesus, against persecution, for righteousness or anything against His mighty name.
I would take this a step further and say that the first group faces no real persecution. Being persecuted would mean that you’re proclaiming the name of Jesus and His word. Being persecuted would mean that you’re living in a way that people see Jesus through you, without saying anything about HIM. If you are talking about things of this world or doing things other than what Jesus taught, what could the world possibly say against you? You’re just like them.
This mindset is like saying you basically don’t trust GOD to know what’s best for you. GOD. He knows and can do literally everything. His Word is TRUTH. What it says about us and to us is for our GOOD and it’s to protect us. The Word of God is our armor.
You are not of this world.
You are more than this world.
You are worth more to God than you are to this world.
Your name is not known to this world. God knows your name.
Why would we settle for something so temporary when we could spend eternity with the Father??
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Hebrews 4:12
But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
James 1:22
The grass withers and flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever.
Isaiah 40:8
