Have you ever seen those funny videos of people falling? They may be running or on skates, but one person falls and here comes another person and they trip over them because they came upon them without enough time to move out of the way. Before you know it thereโs multiple people on the ground or all in a pile.
We get a kick out of stuff like that. Usually because the people that fell are laughing and in good spirits. Iโd hope so anyway. ๐
The fall of man took place way back with Adam and Eve. Weโve been affected since then because thatโs when sin entered the world. The world has been in a fallen state.
This truth is no laughing matter, though.
A line from Susie Larsonโs book, Closer Than Your Next Breath, says โfallen people make others stumble.โ
Isnโt that the truth? Itโs the same with the quote โhurt people hurt people.โ
Just like God uses all walks of people, so does the Devil.
God doesn’t rejoice in the hurt that His children endure.
Alternatively, the Devil doesn’t care and couldn’t care less about the state of God’s children. He just wants them to not follow God and turn away. The Devil will use anyone for his evil purposes until he doesn’t need them anymore.
If someone has fallen away from faith, it can become a stumbling block for those who are new to the faith. Why did this person turn away from God? Am I missing something? Why wasn’t faith enough?
People who go their own way will make posts about their experience, too. Theyโll say lies about God, that God just wants them to be happy as a way to justify their sinful living. Others will renounce their faith altogether, giving reasons why it just โdidnโt work for them.โ
If someone walks out and disappoints us, we can lose faith in people. We feel like we canโt trust anyone. Why do people keep letting us down?
The truth I keep holding onto is that God doesnโt let us down even when people do. My faith is in Him, not them. Whatever people do, God will bring it all for our good. He can strengthen our faith in Him and show us what He can do with broken people like us.
We don’t know what’s going on in people’s lives or in their heads. If we knew, we’d probably be able to prevent a lot of horrible acts of violence from lost people in the world.
It’s important in this day and age to build each other up and encourage one another in faith. Watch for the stumbling blocks and be watchful of how you could be presenting a stumbling block for others. Weโve all fallen short and just because weโre believers doesnโt mean we canโt make others stumble.
Encouragement for today:
- While God is omnipresent, Satan doesn’t have that power. Don’t allow evil spirits to twist His good truths into lies.
- Just because you stumble doesn’t mean you can’t get back up and on the path He has set before you.
- Give yourself the grace you’d give others.
but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more

I hope you have a great day!
