This should be a short post. ๐
In my reading, I came across this reminder that not all of our feelings are valid. Like weโve talked about before, weโre not given a spirit of fear or anxiety, but of peace and sound mind. Itโs not from God, but what do we do with it?
In my All is Well devotional, it says, โFeelings can be used by God to draw you closer to Him.โ
No matter what weโre feeling, whether itโs joy or sadness, we still bring those feelings to God in some form. Joy will be brought with thanksgiving and praise. Sadness is brought with those as well Iโm sure because even when weโre sad, we can still praise and provide thanks to God, but weโre also bringing a request or handing over these feelings to Him.
This line of thought also brought the book Feelings and Faith by Brian S Borgman to mind. A great book that biblically talks about the feelings we face and how we can use them for Godโs glory in every situation.
How have you experienced feelings drawing you closer to God?
Have you experienced the opposite? Like a wedge is placed between you and God because of your feelings?
Resources for handling feelings:
- Examine your feelings, maybe even talk through your feelings with someone else whoโs a trusted, faithful source.
- Go to the Lord in prayer and give your feelings to Him, especially those of the negative variety.
- Keep a journal to write about your feelings.
We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ
2 Corinthiansโฌ โญ10โฌ:โญ5โฌ
O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.
Isaiahโฌ โญ25โฌ:โญ1โฌ โฌโฌ
But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me.
Psalmโฌ โญ13โฌ:โญ5โฌ-โญ6โฌ
Have a great week ahead!

What a gift it is that we can bring all of our feelings to Jesus. And since He walked this earth, He understands all of our emotions. And the books you mentioned sound like good ones. A couple of years ago I read a book by Charles Stanley called Emotions, which was also a good one.

Stanleyโs always a good read! Iโll look that one up, too. ๐๐ป
