Blessings Revealed

I’m going back through Revelation. Not only was this the plan after BSF to go back through and reexperience it to share here with you (since I wasn’t good about sharing along the way), but my pastor has started walking through Revelation on Sunday mornings. I’ve been fed Revelation for over a year, maybe two! It’s been wild, in the best way. Each time I’ve gone through Revelation, it’s been different. First, I was reading through it for maybe the first time ever, just straight through; experiencing and learning. Then, right after, Bible Study Fellowship’s study was over Revelation. Now, just after we’re done for the summer and before we move onto something else at BSF, my church is studying Revelation!

In our Revelation study at BSF, we had a few weeks where our reading was found in other books of the Bible and how it points to Revelation rather than just reading in Revelation alone. All of Scripture points to Jesus and He’s coming back for us in Revelation, which will happen! Praise God!

So, this is my first post and as I go back through my materials, notes and studying, I’ll be sharing a piece of encouragement for you. This is my summer project of sorts and something to help encourage myself as much as you.

Today’s encouragement is found at the very beginning of Revelation.

Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and who keep what is written in it, for the time is near.

Revelation 1:3

Revelation growing up for most of us was taught or talked about as something scary, something to only read when you wanted to know about the end times. It wasn’t incorporated into regular scripture reading and not something talked about on Sunday morning.

By contrast to that thinking, Revelation starts off with this blessing. Read, hear and obey the Word of God. Blessed are those who obey His commands.

This is the essence of all the teachings I’ve heard this past year. Revelation sounds scary, but it’s not for the righteous and it is for the wicked. We don’t need to be afraid when we are hidden in Him.

To further this, you can be a blessing using this blessing by sharing this tidbit with someone. Be a blessing by sharing, reading and encouraging others.

Have you read Revelation in its entirety recently?
