Wow. What a bombshell I just read.
I’m in the middle of Misfortune and Mr. Right by Savannah Scott and this little girl in the story learned something that made her sad during her school day, but for me, also learning something new, I took it as an encouragement.
Little Cassidy learned that butterflies can’t see their wings. They’ve just spent however long in their cocoons and they’ve undergone a (beautiful) change and they can’t even see it.
It is sad when you think of not being able to see something so colorful and the picture of attractiveness. It would be like being blind and not seeing the wonderfully painted sky at sunset.
How encouraging could this be????
Well…
Sometimes we go through life and we feel in a rut. We’re being worked on and refined. We’re doing the next right thing. All the things, but we don’t see how we’re doing anything worthwhile or good.
So, at times in life, we can’t see the good, but others can. Our good is noticed. (If not with recognition, but with Heaven’s angels, thanks to my recent systematic theology reading.)
It’s good to have those in your life to share life’s struggles with and remind you of what you’re doing is worth it, even when it doesn’t feel like it. Don’t lose heart or hope.
We may not in this lifetime know how our little moments of kindness changed someone’s life.
What we can’t see still matters. What we can’t see still brings impact.
