The Heaviness of Negativity

For the past two weeks, I’ve been dealing with negative things in my life whether it’s just negative days, news and things or simply negative thoughts I’ve had to battle against. I’ve been doing a good (humanly) job of rebutting the thoughts with truth – once I go down one way I’ll turn around say no, that’s not right.

I’ve got a jar now with these color coded scripture sheets so you can pull out one for different feelings. Happy, anxious, sad, etc. That helps, but it’s not lasting unless the scripture and His truth is deep in your heart.

It’s times like these that I’m thankful that He’s been working on me and urging me to dig deeper in the word. If I didn’t spend so much time in His Word, I wouldn’t be able to go to battle and would easily feel defeated.

Days feel heavy.

I’ve got a lot going on up my head these days and every new thing just adds to the mess. If it’s a mess, why doesn’t someone just clean it up? 🙂 What an idea.

Some days it feels like carrying the weight of the world, but knowing you can’t fix it.

Reading Revelation, studying Systematic Theology – on chapters of prayer and angels & spirits most recently – and being in Lent season has been… interesting. Leaning on God. Trusting He has a plan, the plan, to bring His chosen people through to the other side of the sin and worldliness.

We weren’t meant to carry the weight of the world. We take up our cross, but the sin of the world was placed on Jesus, not us. We can live in the freedom bought with His blood. Pursing righteousness and holiness in the thick of where He has us right now. It’s all temporary. One day we will come face to face with His glory.

Are you ready?

Another thing that has helped me is to not isolate. We are created to be relational, first with God and then with others. Jesus has blessed us with fellow Christians to fellowship with.

So true! I feel so much better when I’ve shared what’s on my mind and heart or discussing things with my peers.
