Our VBS week has come to an end. Hereโs how it went!
Day One: Truth Comes From God
Our focus verse for the whole week was Romans 12:2 that says โDo not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind so that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good, perfect and acceptable.โ
The world will tell us a lot of things about everything. People will say certain things are okay, while others will encourage sinful behavior. The world offers only shifting sand.
The amazing thing about Godโs Word is that. I matter how aged it is from the time His chosen authors penned it, itโs still applicable and still His true Word for us today. His Word never changes and something we can stand firm on., just like a rock!

While some may say that truth can be different for different people (your truth vs my truth), God says truth comes from Him.
The sum of your word is truth, and every one of your righteous rules endures forever.
Psalm 119:160
Day Two: Godโs Plan Is Best
On Tuesday our Bible story came from the book of Daniel where Daniel and a few friends were under the kingโs rule but Daniel told the servant that he could not eat what the King was serving because Godโs way said otherwise. It was all the food that was bad for a person. He made a deal that for 10 days the servant would only give Daniel and his buddies vegetables and water, nothing else. At the end of the 10 days, the servant would discern what group (Daniel and his buddies or all the others) were better off.
This was a great story that showed how even those in power on earth donโt hold the answers for us. Our ultimate rule comes from God and we can be reasonable in doing whatโs right.
I came home from church encouraged but immediately tired at the same time. I had a salad waiting on me which I was really looking forward to (if you havenโt had a Chick-fil-A market salad, you are missing out!) and so I ate that as soon as I got home. My plan for the day had been to come home, eat and then row. Anything else would just happen if it happened. After I ate my salad though, I just really didnโt want to row. What did I want to do? Sleep. I was so tired with a headache forming. A nap would feel so good. I knew I needed to row though and though a nap would be good, I donโt think thatโs really the best thing for my body.
So I did work up the gumption to row and I felt better afterward. Did I nap? Nope. Just went to bed earlier to make up for it.
Funny how application came quick on Tuesday!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Day Three: Everyone Needs Jesus
The rich young ruler (Mark 10:17-27) was our story from day three. Through games and story time, the kids learned just how our stuff may mean blessings, but how we view and use those blessings in this life is what matters.
No matter what possessions we do or donโt have, if we have Jesus, we have all we need.
Main point was that in Mark 10:25, weโre told by Jesus that itโs easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:23-24
Day Four: Jesus is the Only Way
The point on our last day was that some people will say thereโs other ways to heaven, like as long as youโre a good person or do or donโt do all these things. The simple fact is that there is only one way to Heaven. Doing good things isnโt enough because youโre sure to mess up and no amount of good because itโs not perfect like Jesus. Our good acts arenโt even always good unless we have His spirit. Our good works flow out from our faith, they donโt create the faith.
It was encouraging to see all the kids shout Jesus and answer all the questions during story time and the in between moments.
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
Acts 4:12
Even as adults we can take lessons from these stories that are geared toward a younger group.
All week long it was so good and encouraging! Thank you for praying and following along. โค๏ธ
