They say in writing, specifically fiction, you’ll find yourself in the characters you create in your story. Like a piece of you just gets in there because you’re also writing what you know, ya know?
In reading, I find I relate in very small ways to a good portion of the characters I read about. It’s usually the introverts I relate to, not surprising. Sometimes it’s the little things the character struggles with or an interest they have.
This is true in writing my novels (which hasn’t progressed much, unfortunately) as well. I’ve put my dreams and pieces of myself into the characters and the stories. It’s what I know. 🙂
I love words and I love characters. They can be so beautifully imperfect.
Something so great about characters – whether creating them or reading the ones created by others – is that no two are the same. They’re so unique with little quirks. It parallels what God created in us. We’re all so different even when we’re the same in many ways. Think about how many people there are today and how many there have been over the whole course of time! Thats a lot of creativity our God has – unfathomable level.
Even with pieces of myself in my writing…
Even with pieces of the authors whose works I read…
Only God knows our full stories. Only God knows everything about us.
At times I feel alone and not fully known, maybe not fully seen is a better note there. I just want someone to want to know me, and not just the little pieces I put out into the world.
Then I get into the Word. I get a little nugget from a post or a message. I get convicted like I did yesterday when I was reading in Psalm 139.
Only God knows all of me and He loves me no matter what. He knit me together with His master precision in my mother’s womb with all the qualities and specifications I’d need for what He has for me in this life. I believe He doesn’t make mistakes.
All the little pieces of myself aren’t perfect, but they’re all for His glory. And yours are too.
Happy Monday! I hope you have a great week! It may be spring break where you are like it is here. I won’t be vacationing because some of us have to keep working 😂 but I hope you enjoy it all the same.

How amazing that THE Almighty God sees us and knows every little thing about us. And He loves us, no matter what. What a gift! Thank you for sharing this reflection. ♥️
