February’s Chronicle of a Bookworm

Welcome to one of the shortest reading months I’ve ever had!

I did read this month, but February’s trend was let’s start a bunch of books and then not finish them.

It was just a weird month for me, really. Looking forward to finishing books in March. Lol

Love Songs Suck by Becky Monson

1/18/2024-2/3/2024

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rating explained:

I was intrigued by this story which I think I got free… I just can’t remember because I get a lot of books and I’m losing track.

The synopsis of this one sounded so good, and really it was a great story! I loved the song writing and the issues that the characters had.

What I didn’t love? Questionable things that happened and how things were handled. Not my style.

Resulted in a 4 star rating. I still love the characters and the love that came from a chance meeting at a party. 😍

Clean Slate by Tara Grace Ericson

2/3/2024

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rating explained:

Clean, action packed novella. Man! Talk about suspense. This took like an hour to read tbh. Super short read about like 24hr action. The MCs here, Flint and Jessie, had a second chance at love. A HEA with a sneak peak into book one.

Novella (through email subscription to Tara Grace only) that kicks off the Black Tower Security series.

Cross Check Crush by Dulcie Dameron

2/4/2024-2/12/2024

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Rating explained:

Though not the first book I’ve owned of Dulcie Cameron’s, this is my first book read of hers. I have another I just haven’t gotten to but was bought before this one, LOL

I really enjoyed this book. More than I thought I would actually. I liked how they met and how he always looked for her. They were both really sweet characters.

“Did you get sober all on your own?”

He shakes his head. “I’d like to take all the credit, but I can’t. It took a lot of prayer and surrendering my anxiety to God to become completely sober.”

I also loved the faith represented in this book.

I can’t believe I actually completed more books than you did. This is a first! Lol. 😂 I haven’t read any of your books or any of the authors yet. I do have some by Tara Grace Ericson and Dulcie Dameron on kindle, just haven’t read them yet. I keep seeing “Cross Check Crush” pop up and I’ve been thinking of getting that one. 🤔

I finished 5 books in February. Really I thought it would be less because I felt I got off to a slow start. Here is what I finished:
    – “Written on the Wind” by Elizabeth Camden. Finally! It only took me a year and a half to get back to this series. 🤦🏼‍♀️
    – “The One with the Kiss Cam” by Cindy Steel. I loved this book so much! I couldn’t put it down. 😍
    – “Hearts of Steel” by Elizabeth Camden. All the books in this series were good. This author definitely does a lot of research.
    – “The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley” by Courtney Walsh. This was the first book I read by her. Why have I waited so long? I loved loved loved this book. It was difficult for me to move on after this one. I just couldn’t let go. I wish someone would turn this into a movie! 🥰
    – “Jeremiah: Lessons through the steps of one of God’s faithful servants” by Manu Susan David. I don’t know if you follow Manu’s blog. She is over at https://faithfood.blog. This is her first book. It is about the Bible book of Jeremiah. Very insightful.
