This is about hockey though, and while this is actually about my home team, I’m so looking forward to the next hockey romcom being released tomorrow !! – I just had to add that. 🙂

Our home team played in Utah to end 2023 with a three game match up. It was not pretty. We got hammered. Like… wiped out. Utah isn’t even that good… but they do have an excellent record at home so that didn’t help us. We’ve been winning most at home, too.
Friday, December 29th, 3-2
It’s the minor league. I’m also minorly shook. We should be able to beat this team. Overall records to go off here, yes. This was not a good night for us.
Saturday, December 30th, 5-2
Another sad night to be an Oilers fan. This was even worse in some ways. Stay out of the box.
Sunday, December 31st, 1-0
Obviously, the score Saturday wasn’t terrible. We took some crappy penalties at the beginning that Coach Murray had just talked to them about from the previous night. Like… why? One goal deficit – not bad. End of the game brawl? Border line oof. I’m sure it was great to be in the crowd though. What happened? I’m not sure. I know Dante Sheriff got hit/knocked down and then everyone on the ice went at. Based on listening to the broadcast anyway. Everyone involved, like 8-10 players got 10min misconduct penalties for continuing the altercation. Weird way to end 2023 if ya ask me.
While Utah came out on top, I hope our team isn’t too tore up about it. They had things to work on and by the end of each night, they had worked through some of that, they just couldn’t get the puck in the net.
Let’s talk about how Andy Carroll got hurt when we’re already a man short on the active roster. Too many guys are hurt. We don’t have clear answers on when some will be back. We are literally on a struggle bus.
Speaking of buses. On a short tangent here, a few weeks ago when the team played in Fort Wayne, they apparently DROVE there. The next day, they played in Wheeling. There is no way they drove from Fort Wayne to Wheeling. No way. I’m thinking that they drove to Fort Wayne and then hopped on a plane to Wheeling. That would be a huge drive the day of the game. They are not like an hour away. I meant to ask someone and since I didn’t, you get to witness my curiosity.
Tonight, the team will be in Allen, TX to play the Americans. That should be interesting. Just like we should have beat Utah, we should be able to beat Allen.
I am also counting down the hours until I get to see my team in person on Friday night. We play a three game weekend at home against Rapid City. For Christmas, I was gifted two more Tulsa Oilers t-shirts and a new huge cowbell (because my old not huge one was unfortunately stolen late last season…), PLUS, a giant red light, so I am most definitely ready to go.
