LOL… okay guys, I had this in my just-short-of-a-million drafts from 2018! Not the whole post (there was nothing additional to the title since I was a huge fan of naming titles with no reference point back then), but this title. No idea why March 28th, 2018 I decided to type out the beginning to a dramatic post about going blind, but here I am over 5 years later, thinking about my eyesight as soon as I read the title. You’re welcome. 🙂
For a while now, I feel like I’m internally being a hypochondriac. Everything is going wrong and I could be on the verge of death, but I’m not going to ask someone to find out! These things just come and go so maybe it’s my path in life and just how these things go when you get as old as me. I am over a quarter of a century old now…
On the subject of the blindness though, my most lengthy symptom of aging is that for the past year and a half, possibly two years, my eyes just start burning for no apparent reason. It’s possible it’s due to not drinking enough water, too much screen time (as I type this on my computer, haha) and/or… I’m just going even more blind than my eye glass prescription deems I am.
The thing is though, I brought this up to my eye doctor last summer when he asked if I had any issues and I was like AM I WEIRD? IS THIS NORMAL? And he was like well… (jk, he didn’t). He said the usual things like the drinking enough water and screen time. But is that really it??? (Yes, I’m questioning the legitimacy of what my doctor says.) He analyzed my eyes like normal and said they’re healthy and nothing wrong with them. EXCEPT I AM ALMOST BLIND, but okay.
I asked him what I can do to help the burning and he mentioned eye drops. I’m not only a noob to these things, I’m also near-deathly afraid of things in my eyes. I don’t want the risk of going even more blind. NEVERMIND THE FACT THAT I THROW WATER AT MY EYES TO STOP THE BURN. Not even filtered water. just straight from the faucet water that no doubt has possibly harmful chemicals that the government/city says is totally fine (I’m sure it is, but still). I let him know that I just splash water in my eyes when it acts up and he definitely thought that was weird, but he said hey, whatever works for you.
Possibly a side question, but whatever happened to spray drops? I can’t do the eye drops, why not spray? Why can’t that just be a thing?
If you don’t have the need for glasses or contacts (bless you if you’re able to use these without having a cow), just remember me over here thinking about going blind when I’m already halfway there, wondering how on earth I would go on with my bookworm life if I didn’t have eyes. I guess there’s always Braille.
My lucky eye doctor sees me in just another week! You can add us both to your prayer list.
Thanks for reading.

When I have burning in my eyes, I use warm water to get a paper towel wet, close my eyes, and gently rub the towel over my eyes

You’re not going blind, in the name of Jesus! I deny it on your behalf! 🙏🙌😁 I have an issue with most eye doctors in general. I feel like maybe they’re more interested in making money than in the health of your eyes. For example, they don’t tell you what things you can do to help your eyes. I am not a doctor, but I think the burning probably is screen time. I do know someone that had started a new job and they had to be on the computer which wasn’t something they were used to. Suddenly their eyes were burning and they needed glasses after previously having good eye sight. Anyway, you are wise to be leery of eye drops after the big thing that happened a few months ago – some people lost their eyesight and some even died! Horrible! But it was only certain brands I think. Anyway, that was more than two cents! 😜

Thank you 🙏🏻
I really like my doctor whom I’ve had since maybe high school?? He’s never really pushed anything. I tried contacts in high school. Tried is probably even pushing it because I never once got one in my eye. Super afraid of contacts experience.
Yes!! I forgot about that even.😳 That made me even more afraid of eye drops. You just never know what’s in all the things we use. Horrible.
I appreciate your two (and more) cents lol 😆
