What do you think gets better with age?
As I grow older, I read more. Thatโs not very surprising though.
When I was first starting to read, of course I was excited and I read everything just because I could. I remember reading signage and stuff like that wherever my family went. In school, I actually didnโt love to read until about high school. Since then Iโve been reading a lot more.
Reading is my escape. My escape, or at least what would pass the time, would be video games – particularly like a BeJeweled or Sims type of game. Now I spend every spare moment I have reading and you never find me โboredโ unless Iโm unfortunately caught without any reading material.
How does reading get better?
Well, as Iโve gotten older, Iโve started to expand my reading options so Iโm digging further into nonfiction and Iโm regularly reading my Bible in a disciplined effort to read the entire Bible in a year. Iโve never read through the entire Bible and probably books Iโve never even touched!
Rather than only reading fictional romances, Iโve been channeling my love of reading to more things like my walk with God and spending diligent time learning and growing with Him. Rather than spending all my time in pretty meaningless stories, God has one in His Word for me to learn from and itโs for me because Heโs a personal God – His Word is just as much for me as it is for anyone else who opens it up.
The older I get, the more Iโve recognized and felt the joy of reading His word. Itโs not boring like I used to think when I was younger. Itโs exciting and relevant.
Happy Friday!!
