There are instances where people spout off comments that make you think about where one really stands with God. That’s what spurred this post.
It also kind of goes with my other post from yesterday, but pure coincidence really.
If we believe, how do we react when calamity strikes?
That usually gets me. Like how am I reacting to this situation and in the process, does that show others the light of Jesus? Not always.
In light of recent events, some may be annoyed by the positive people that are always comparing things to how bad things could be or how thankful we are or should be for all we have. Others are slightly annoyed by the negativity and complaining going on. You can decide which I am if you so choose to spend a few seconds on that.
If we believe… if we believe that we’re going to heaven and that Jesus is the Son of God – that He was born of a virgin, died on a cross for our sins and rose again three days later, why do we not live as though God is all that we need?
Today’s modern world is filled with illness of all kinds. There’s disaster, whether that’s natural or war, or whatever else, it’s everywhere. In so many ways, we’ve become dependent on things of this world – whether that’s medications that cover our symptoms, habitual activities that draw us away from God but forget our problems or we lose things and it’s as if our whole world crumbles because it was build on something other than our firm foundation in Christ. I’m guilty of this, too.
At the end of this earth, we won’t have these things. There won’t be a need in Heaven because everyone and everything will be fully transformed, brought to completion, and even more perfect than we could imagine on this side, just the way God designed. We will be fully satisfied because we were made, created to worship our Creator.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Matthew 6:33
How can we live today as if we’re headed to our Home today or tomorrow?
“Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”
Proverbs 27:1
If we truly believe, how are we reflecting these aspects of the Christian life daily?
What steps can we take to turn our mindset Heavenward? I could name them, but I’ll let you decide for yourself. 🙂 The Bible is the best place to find answers to life’s hard questions.
“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 3:11

Towards the beginning of your post, I was reminded of something I heard a pastor say years ago, which I loved. “When you squeeze an orange, you get orange juice.” The point is that when we are squeezed, what comes out of us? The fruit of the spirit? Or something else? I am not perfect in this area by any means. But it is something that I try to remind myself from time to time… But I agree too with your thoughts on living with an eternal mindset. When we do, this should change our actions for the better. Thanks for this reflection, Summer!

I’ve heard something similar to that as well! It’s a great illustration. If we’re filled with something truly, it should bleed out in our lives. Thank you!
