LOVE OF READING

I’m super thankful for reading. My love of reading books hasn’t always been present if you can imagine. When I first started reading I would read every little thing. I would read signs on highway, the full menu at restaurants – anything I could get my little eyes on.

When it was time for a book report I would roll my eyes and try to find a book that maybe had a movie or show made of it or just a book I’ve heard of before somehow. Why? Because reading was boring and put me to sleep.

In high school, we started having to go to the library and check out books every few weeks. I really felt like it was a flashback to earlier years in elementary school. Don’t people know I read so much already being on social media???

I picked out a book, which I believe was by Janette Rallison. I absolutely loved that book. It changed how I felt about books. From that point on, I’ve had books and more books in my life.

I’m also thankful for reading because the older I get, the more I love reading the Bible, too. The Bible used to intimidate me. How do I read that? Where would I start? Starting from the beginning seemed like #goals but for some reason it took a lot for me to get there. I think a few years ago I had started in Genesis and got to Leviticus and stereotypically stopped… Now I see the joy of reading His word, taking it in either by studying or just letting God speak to me that way. Especially now that I’m out of college, I’m pouring the energy I had for school into my Bible studies. College and the Bible are both great investments – just one is for the world and the other is for eternity.
